Hey Umi <3

It's been awhile since we talked at length and I got to know about the stuff going on in your life - when i could draw the legible lines between the different constellations of your life that could only be seen in the background of all the social media pieces.

It makes me happy every time you pick yourself over whatever the world sees because I think the soul behind the pictures is as beautiful as the pictures and words themselves. I love reading your writing or seeing your posts - as a writer there's a joy in falling in love with another authors words that brings me a special joy in reading yours.

I know it's been a long time since we talked regularly but i want you to know that you have held a special place in my heart from when i first met you. You unlocked pieces of my world that reverberated through me until it broke free and gave me wings to enjoy the breeze under my wings.

Thank you for that - thank you for giving me pieces of my soul back. It meant the world to me.

I apologize for not giving more support and making more comments on the many pieces i've read over the past couple of years that have impacted me in one way or another - but know that they've impacted me and left their marks - in much the same way you did when i first met you.

Thanks for being a light in the dark,

Genuinely deeply appreciated

"There is a particular peace in understanding that being misunderstood by people who only have fragments of you is not actually a failure of communication. The important people in my life know what the pieces belong to." Lovely way of expressing what I feel like a lot of people go through. I was on the phone with a friend this week, we talked about miscommunication and misunderstandings with past friends and exfriends. It's good to open up about such topics as social media has become this haunting reminder of things.

Not to go in-depth, but my usage of social media is a reminder of my failings, just as much as my happier times. Whether it's memories of hitting rock bottom or traveling to Taiwan again, it has also helped me. (FB specifically) In the end of the day, I too stopped caring about some aspects of people understanding me, and instead I just started writing for myself. There were times I no longer wanted to partake in social media, instead I just learned more self-control and bettered my usage about it.

Keep on writing Umi, and I hope you continue to share your philosophies and thoughts. It's hard to find such content on the net sometimes, maybe I haven't looked hard enough, but I appreciate your writes. They have offered me perspectives that I have forgotten or never thought of.
