Umi, This is very powerful! And the first thing that comes to my mind is, this man did not do the hard work that you deserved. Love is 24/7. You were a smart, hard-working woman who guarded her heart but believed in love, in its power and ability to help two become one. You did a great job of detailed introspection of a part of life few want to tread. Your contrast of the light on vs the light off was powerful. It made me think of times in my life. But, I side with you. The work done in the dark takes two. At least you were there and waiting.
